ABOUT THE EVENT

 

The Project MFG Next Generation Manufacturing Challenge is a series of event-based skills competitions supported by private-public partnerships.

 
 

The second Challenge will be held in Meridian, Mississippi, May 10-11, 2019.

Four teams from around the state will compete in 5-axis machining and welding to determine an Mississippi State Champion.

The Challenge will culminate in a national competition at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago in September 2020.

You are invited to support the next generation of advanced manufacturing workforce by attending the event as the teams compete head to head to determine the best in Mississippi!

 

Orientation Day

Judge & Expert Orientation and Training

  • NIMS, host and vendors complete final equipment checks and set up

  • Introductions

  • Roles and responsibilities of judges and experts

Review Contest Description

Review Project Description

  • Marking scheme

  • Subjective scoring

Equipment orientation for teams (optional)

  • While judges training continues, experts work with team members:

    • Haas 5-axis equipment and tooling

    • Lincoln welders

  • Teams may continue orientation until dinner break

Review logistics and Competition Rules

  • Equipment scheduling and monitoring

  • Difference between pilot and later competitions

Dinner break (served onsite for experts and judges)

Team Check-in and Orientation
